Fortnite x Kingdom Hearts Is Live: Prices, the Mythic Kingdom Key, and Everything in the Shop

The crossover Epic Games confirmed with Square Enix actually went live on September 17: Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas are in Fortnite's Item Shop, complete with a mythic weapon, the Gummi Ship, and a limited-time event.

We'd already covered the confirmed Fortnite x Kingdom Hearts partnership here, and now it's actually live inside the game. Since the early hours of September 17, alongside the v42.20 update, Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas have been available in the battle royale's Item Shop, each with their own outfit, back bling, pickaxe and a matching LEGO Fortnite style.

Pricing doesn't vary much between characters: Sora runs 1,800 V-Bucks, while Riku, Kairi and Roxas cost 1,600 V-Bucks each. Grabbing all four at once through the full bundle costs 4,500 V-Bucks, which is a genuine discount compared to buying them separately. Sora also stands out for shipping with extra styles inspired by his looks from Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts III, so you can swap his appearance depending on which game in the saga you're more attached to.

The item that got everyone talking, no question, is the Mythic Kingdom Key: a special version of Sora's Keyblade that shows up as a rare in-match weapon, no purchase required, letting players chain melee combos before zapping opponents with a bolt of lightning. Each character also carries their own iconic weapon as back bling and pickaxe: Riku with the Soul Eater, Kairi with Destiny's Embrace, and Roxas with the dual Oathkeeper and Oblivion.

There's more scattered across the map than it first seems. A heart-shaped moon now hangs over the Chapter 7 Season 4 island, Kingdom Hearts characters can pop up as NPCs, and Sea-Salt Ice Cream became a consumable item that restores health and shield, a small but genuinely nice nod for anyone who actually knows the Square Enix series. If you'd rather not spend V-Bucks, there's also a competitive route: the Override Series Kingdom Hearts Cup offers a free path to unlock part of the cosmetics.

The Gummi Ship also launched as a separate vehicle purchase for 2,000 V-Bucks, working as a two-seater car in battle royale with a direct tie to Rocket League: buying the customization in one game unlocks matching content in the other. To close out launch week, Epic ran two themed Power Hours on September 19, with temporary bonuses for anyone online during those windows.

In practice, anyone who just wanted the Sora skin gets a relatively fair individual price for a crossover this big, but the full bundle is where the real value is if you're into the whole franchise and not just the protagonist. What stands out most is the tight window: the items leave the shop on October 1 at 8 PM ET, so anyone who got hyped by the announcement shouldn't wait too long to decide.
