Dying Light: The Beast turns 1 and gets an exclusive PS5 physical edition

Techland marks Dying Light: The Beast's first anniversary with three physical editions made with Super Rare Games, three weeks of in-game events and free content.

Dying Light: The Beast hit its one-year mark this Thursday (September 18), and Techland went all in to celebrate. The headline news is the game's first ever physical release, made in partnership with Super Rare Games and exclusive to PS5 (Xbox Series X|S players are left out of this particular perk).

There are three versions. The Retail edition ships the disc plus a manual with unlimited pre-orders. The Super Rare Games Edition adds an exclusive sticker and a numbered metallic slipcover, and that one is limited. The Anniversary Edition, also limited, bundles in a set of physical items inspired by Castor Woods, the region where the game takes place. Pre-orders open at 4pm CEST on September 18 through Super Rare Games' own site and run through October 16.

If you already platinumed the game a while back, this physical release reads more like a collector's item than an actual reason to jump back in, and honestly that tracks: limited print runs like this one are built for that crowd from the start.

What actually matters for people still playing is the three-week run of in-game events. It kicked off with a Double XP window from September 18 to 21, followed by the Call of the Beast: Anniversary Edition, which brings weekly community goals, weekend bonus voting, and daily login rewards called Crane's Anniversary Drops, including an exclusive weapon dropping every Friday. Hitting the weekly targets unlocks a unique outfit and weapon.

There's also something for everyone regardless of participation: the Discharge Weapon Pack is free on all platforms from September 17 to 24. And if the anniversary mood makes you want to run the whole trilogy, the game is sitting at its historic low of 50% off through September 26, with the full Dying Light, Dying Light 2 and The Beast bundle going as high as 70% off in the same window.

Put together, it's a smart move: existing fans get a reason to log back in for three weeks, collectors get a nice physical flex, and newcomers get the cheapest entry point the game has ever had. Given how long Techland has kept supporting its older Dying Light titles, this anniversary push feels less like a farewell lap and more like a teaser for whatever's coming next.
