Peak, the co-op hit that sold 10 million on PC, launches on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2

Launching an indie game and watching it blow up is rare enough. Watching it blow up and then land on consoles more than a year later, that's another level entirely. That's exactly what happened with Peak this week: the co-op climbing game that sold over 10 million copies on PC since June 2025 officially launched on PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 on October 22.
The announcement came straight from PlayStation's own blog and was confirmed by Gematsu and Push Square right after, so there's no ambiguity here. The console build, sometimes called Peak: Console Edition, ships complete with every content update released since launch. No stripped-down port, no missing biomes.
For anyone who skipped last year's madness: Peak comes from Aggro Crab (Another Crab's Treasure, Going Under) teaming up with Sweden's Landfall (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, Stick Fight, Content Warning). The pitch is simple: you're a stranded scout on a mysterious island, and your only way out is climbing the mountain at its center. Solo works, but it's built for groups of up to four.
The climb mixes survival mechanics into the platforming: hunger, injuries that cut your stamina, weather hazards that shift the run entirely (fog, storms, even zombies in some sections), and a layout that regenerates every 24 hours, so memorizing a route gets you nowhere. Proximity voice chat is half the appeal too. The farther a friend drifts from you on the mountain, the fainter their voice gets, and that one small detail is responsible for most of the viral clips that made this game explode in the first place.
The part that actually matters for anyone with friends scattered across different hardware is full crossplay between PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2. That solves the one real headache with any friend-group co-op game: nobody has to buy a specific console just to play along. Digital pricing on PS5 landed around $9.99, right in line with what the game has always charged.
There's a physical edition too, though so far it's PS5 only. Skybound Games is handling a $19.99 disc release that comes with a printed passport full of stickers for customizing your character, plus an extra code you can hand off to a friend. Smart move, honestly, since the whole appeal of this game has always been social, not the solo grind.
If you already played it on PC, nothing here is exclusive to you, it's the exact same game. But if you only own a console and spent all of 2025 watching the clips without a way in, this is the first real shot at joining the chaos without building a PC.
