PlayStation 5 owners who've spent all year watching Forza Horizon 6 videos from the sidelines finally have a real date to look forward to: January 26, 2027. Playground Games confirmed the launch in an official statement, closing the book on months of back and forth over whether the PS5 version would actually make it out before the year was over.
A quick recap: the game launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC back in May 2026, with the PS5 port sold from day one as a "coming later" promise. For most of the year the studio kept saying it was still targeting a 2026 release, until the math didn't add up and the real date slipped into the following January.
Standard Edition buyers get the game on the 26th, but anyone going Premium Edition jumps in five days earlier, on January 21, continuing the franchise's usual early access perk. And the PS5 launch isn't arriving alone: the game's first expansion lands the same day, bundled in for anyone with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, or the expansions pack.
On the technical side, PS5 owners get a Quality mode running at 4K/30fps and a Performance mode at 60fps, plus full crossplay and cross-save with the Xbox and PC versions. Translation: your garage, your accumulated credits, and your racing crew carry over exactly where you left off, nothing gets left behind.
The slip from 2026 to 2027 obviously stings more for anyone who'd circled a date on the calendar, but it probably doesn't change much about the final package: a few extra months is usually time well spent polishing a late multiplatform port, which can easily ship rough otherwise. What actually matters here is the crossplay. Friend groups split between Xbox and PlayStation since May finally get to race in the same Horizon Festival again, and that matters more to the community than the exact date does.
