Game Informer confirmed on Friday that its next issue, number 382, will feature GTA VI on the cover. The artwork is original, made in partnership with Rockstar itself, showing Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in a car, armed, in that classic GTA cover style any fan would spot from across the room.
The main feature runs 14 pages and was written by journalist Marcus Stewart, with exclusive interviews from Rockstar's lead designers. The story centers on how the studio built Leonida, the fictional take on Florida that serves as the game's setting. Alongside it come 12 brand new screenshots, showing streets, beaches, and corners of the state that hadn't shown up in any trailer before.
Two technical details stand out from what's leaked so far: an advanced weather system that simulates storms and Florida's less sunny weather phenomena, and a generous amount of wildlife spread across land, air, and sea, including species that aren't even native to the region. It's clear Rockstar didn't skimp on field research to make Leonida feel like the real state.
In practice, this is pure marketing, but it's the kind that actually works. It makes sense for Rockstar to drop a fresh batch of information right now: the release is set for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the hype around the game is already so massive that any new image becomes the day's talking point online.
Worth remembering: earlier this year, a different Game Informer cover got fans convinced it was already GTA VI, and it wasn't. This time it's the real deal, which might explain the magazine's extra care in making clear, right from the headline, that the wait is over.
The digital edition lands September 29 for subscribers, with the print version following by mail and hitting newsstands in the weeks after. For anyone into collecting this kind of thing, keep an eye out: cover issues like this tend to sell out fast.
