Kojima confirms Bill Skarsgård as Physint's lead at TGS 2026

Hideo Kojima revealed the main cast of his new Xbox-exclusive espionage game during Tokyo Game Show, featuring Bill Skarsgård, Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe.

During Xbox's broadcast at Tokyo Game Show 2026, Hideo Kojima finally put a face on Physint, his espionage project that switched homes after Sony backed out. The lead role goes to Bill Skarsgård, the guy who already haunted an entire generation as Pennywise in It and now trades the clown makeup for a secret agent in a renewed Cold War setting.

Kojima didn't hold back the enthusiasm, saying the two were already fans of each other's work before they even started talking about the project. Sure, that's the kind of line every casting announcement tries to make sound organic, but with Kojima there's actual track record behind it: he's famous for recruiting actors he genuinely admires, so the statement carries more weight than usual.

Alongside Skarsgård come Charlee Fraser, the Australian model making her debut in a major game role, South Korean veteran Don Lee (the tank from Squid Game and Train to Busan), and Japanese actress Minami Hamabe. It's a lineup mixing Hollywood, Asia and the fashion world, very much in Kojima's signature style of treating a game's cast like a real blockbuster ensemble.

The official poster, shot by Kojima himself, carries the tagline "The Next Cold War Begins" and reinforces the tense, paranoid espionage tone the earlier teasers already hinted at. Kojima also mentioned that costume fittings, facial scans and camera tests with Skarsgård and Fraser have already taken place, which suggests actual production is underway rather than just a concept on paper.

Worth remembering the backstory here: Physint started as a Sony partnership, but the publisher pulled back over delays and budget overruns, and the project moved to Xbox, which is now expanding its deal with Kojima Productions into film and TV as well. For anyone who's been following this saga since the original reveal, it's a relief to see the game showing signs of life again, even without a release date attached.

In practice, this changes little for players in the short term, since no gameplay or mechanics were shown this time around. But the timing is notable: dropping a heavyweight cast announcement right after a platform switch is a classic move to rebuild hype and show investors (and Xbox) that the project is alive and moving forward.
