Xbox unveils Mythic Achievements, its take on the platinum trophy, rolling out to Insiders first
Xbox has launched Mythic Achievements, a prestige badge for players who complete every original achievement in a game, with retroactive support that already applies to past completions.

Xbox made it official on Tuesday (the 29th): Mythic Achievements are here, at least for the first wave of testers. Think of it as the platinum trophy Microsoft's ecosystem never had, a badge for players who actually finish every achievement a game shipped with.
The rule is straightforward. To earn a Mythic Achievement, you need to unlock every achievement that came with a game's original release. Anything added later through DLC or updates doesn't count against you, so if you already hit 100% before an expansion dropped, you keep the badge. There's no extra Gamerscore involved either, it's purely cosmetic, complete with its own unlock animation.
One detail long-time players will appreciate: the system works retroactively. Games you already finished in the past, including Xbox 360 titles, get the Mythic badge applied automatically, no replaying required. Good news if you've got years of completed games sitting in your history and zero interest in grinding them again just for a profile flex.
Microsoft is also rolling out a new Gaming tab on profiles, showing achievement history, progress bars toward Mythic status on specific games, Gamerscore milestone badges, and a way to browse friends' collections side by side. It's the kind of social showcase Sony has had working for years.
Right now it's only live for Xbox Insiders, on console and PC, through the Xbox Insider Hub app. There's no confirmed date for a wider rollout, so expect Microsoft to expand access gradually the way it usually handles these tests.
What actually stands out here is the timing. PlayStation fans have been ribbing Xbox over this exact gap for more than a decade, and the reply finally landed nearly fully formed, retroactivity and all. It won't change much for players who were already achievement hunters, but it adds a bit of recognition that was missing, and closes a gap that always felt odd for a service the size of Game Pass.
